The Hertz Green Collection includes the Toyota Prius and Nissan Altima Hybrids, the Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion, and the Toyota Corolla, featuring an average Environmental Protection Agency highway fuel efficiency rating of 31 miles per gallon. Most also carry the EPA’s SmartWay certification, which indicates lower emissions of air pollutants and greenhouse gases. While, the Toyota Prius has been awarded the EPA’s highest honor, SmartWay Elite™ status. Additionally, driving an environmentally-friendly car doesn’t come at the expense of comfort or roominess. The vehicles in the Green Collection are Standard and Midsize 4-doors, which mean plenty of seat space and trunk room.
In 2008 Hertz invested $48 million to purchase hybrid vehicles, bringing the total number to 3,400 in North America. In addition, Hertz rents hybrid vehicles throughout Europe: in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom. |
